In the heart of Philadelphia, at 19th & Chestnut Street, stands a beautiful and opulent modern Indian Restaurant – Veda. Located in the very building that was once the annex of the most luxurious hotels in Philly, the Aldine Hotel, Veda opened its doors to welcome patrons from near and far on December 28th, 2016.

Offering more than meets the eye, Veda – Modern Indian Bistro derives its name from the famous Vedas, the religious texts that form the basis of Hinduism. The inspiration for Veda came from the owner’s desire to introduce traditional Indian cuisine and flavors in America, unconstrained by strict adherence to classicism – something different from what everyone already knows.

In a place that abounds with several Italian restaurants, gastropubs, and New American establishments, Veda of Philadelphia offers a refreshing take on Indian Cuisine, with its bright, fresh flavors and textures, and a heavenly combination of earthy, nutty, sharp, bright, hot, and sweet Indian spices, right from the first bite.

You’ll appreciate what Veda has to offer, even before you start to enter. The large, beautiful glass doors, the monochrome library, the gorgeous balcony bar, and the boldly colorful walls adorned with graffiti of sanskrit verses that captures everyone’s attention, all while providing a private and intimate feel in the overall dining experience. Veda’s stunning balcony bar – named Ek Jaam, offers a light-filled, European cocktail hour vibe.

Indian food is so much more than just curry and spices – it is a beautiful union of thousands of years of cultures, cuisines, regions, healing, and love. And at Veda – Modern Indian Bistro, this is exactly what is preserved – traditional recipes with the original flavor and rich cultural heritage of India, presented smartly within a modern bistro setting.

Embracing its Indian roots, Veda offers a confluence of traditional Indian food with a cool, modern outlook. The flavoral diversity in Veda – Modern Indian Bistro’s cuisine comes from India’s rich history of cultural intermingling, which offers a gastronomical and visual delight.

Just as the Vedic hymns were developed by the Rishis (sages) after inspired creativity, so is the food at Veda – every aspect of cooking has been crafted to absolute perfection. The food is prepared from scratch with fresh ingredients sourced directly from the farmers market, which ensures that your experience remains unique.

Veda’s Indian Cuisine retains its cultural and flavoral palette, while offering complete aspects of fine dining, including wine selection, craft cocktails, and an impeccable service. Lunch is served from Monday to Friday, between 11:30 AM – 02:30 PM, while dinner hours are from 04:30 – 09:30 PM from Sundays through Thursdays and from 04:30 – 10:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays.

Every Saturday and Sunday, Veda hosts a weekend brunch between 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM, that offers a host of delectable dining options. Oh, and bottomless mimosas for $20 per individual, too.

Here’s the best for the last, though: Happy Hour is every day (even on Sundays)! It runs from 05:00 – 07:00 PM, Mondays through Sundays. Bet you didn’t know, the Happy Hour has 50% off our select best cocktails, beer, wine, and appetizers. Happy indeed!
